About Us
The Innovation Lab will be located on campus on the 2nd floor of the IT Building. Construction is underway and expected to be completed within 2021. The new space will include the High Technology Collaboration Center, a scholars lab, a group study room, the library instructional lab and several small break-out rooms along with a large, open study space.
The state-of-the-art space will contain:
- A large multi-touch display screen
- A video projection wall
- 3-D printers
- A design lab
- Soft, flexible and moveable furnishings
- A prototyping workshop and equipment
- Classroom and meeting space
- Virtual conferencing systems

Do you want to learn how to transform a novel idea into something that makes a meaningful difference to society?The Innovation Lab offers you an opportunity to acquire innovation skills and work with university, industry and community partners in a cross-disciplinary, collaborative setting. Guided by university and organizational Innovation Mentors, you will have the opportunity to play with ideas brought in by industry, community, faculty and/or students.
Innovation Lab: Everything You Need To Know And More
An innovation lab is a new kind of physical space that encourages the creation, development, and implementation of novel ideas. Such a space grows potential earning opportunities and relationships within an organization alike. An innovation lab can be referred to with many different titles such as idea lab, innovation center, creativity lab, makerspace, etc.
Through the Innovation Scholars program, students gain skills in:
- Experimentation, creativity and problem solving
- Resiliency and recovery from failure
- Solving complex, unstructured problems
- Employing cross-functional teams
The Innovation Scholars break down academic and professional silos by joining faculty/student expertise in business, science, engineering, innovation and design. The program fosters existing cutting-edge research and high-tech resources to accelerate innovation.
